Leader = Organisation

What my say on the ride of life, the aspect of working life. Since graduation, have been in the workforce for coming to 10 years, is neither too short nor too long. But I do see a trend, the leader. Does a leader translate to the well being of an organisation?

My 1st organization started and surrounded with men society. Wow… no worry of my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everyone was close, working as a team. The bonding was there. The leader led the team well but all happiness soon came to an end. Slowly, the team dispersed… smaller and smaller. The farewell sounded affectionate, dramatic, laughter and sadness too but I guess I had to move on to venture on my interest. But our relationship does not stop there; we still meet up once a year or sometimes twice.

The 2nd organization was great, wonderful and PERFECT that I could say. A balance of both genders that are fun. Works were never a complaint, all worked closely as a team, helping each other to achieve the goals. The leader led by example and there’s no status difference between developer and manager. The lunch group grew bigger and bigger, at times we need to look for 3 tables to accommodate all. The leader earns his respect, earns the achievement. Thing turned when another leader ran the department, works were no longer towards achievement but to meet target and more targets and more. Too many empty promises to clients, staffs suffered. I saw the situation in red light, I moved on. The farewell was even more dramatic than expected. I saw the rest suffered silently. The bonding is still there, we gather for occasion and non-occasion events.

The next organization was the longest stint. But I felt there’s not much bonding as I experienced before. The colleagues are nice working folks except one. There’s nothing much personal we could chat over lunch. There’s obviously a gap between subordinate and supervisor. Obviously there’s something about sharing and interfering was not allowed. Instead, my bondings with the site’s staff are stronger, closer and to extend of close friends that could share personal issues. Leaders changed from good to worse… No leader to follow, no leader to guide, no leader to advise and worst, and leader is at the mercy of being pressed… If a leader could not guide, how do we as the followers do? Leaving before regards… Taking a little break from work does help.

I thought a change of environment and job scope will be better. The current organization is the worst among. A leader that has no direction, a leader does not know what the aspect, vision or mission of the division.

There are some followers out there to bring the favoritism, there are some followers that follow the blind, and there are handfuls that are really at their dissatisfaction. This is the 1st time I experienced a leader that couldn’t lead, one couldn’t guide, one couldn’t sense direction, one couldn’t even manage the time and one that act as though understand. Obviously this leader is one that got the current position through some special treatment?!?!?! The empty shell word always comes into my mind. Empty shell = leader! I’m not trying to be blunt but it’s just the sight, the sluggish, haggard (sometimes it does look good, maybe because of the Botox dosage) and BIMBO… [NOoooooooo… cannot use BIMBO… I already saw devil in my brain signaled a “NO NO NO”]… that makes me use one sentence…”Good to see, but either rotten or empty” Har.....

Today I saw a farewell… though in most cases, I felt sad to let go… but this one, I congratulate for the right choice and move. Staying here longer will soon become one of the empty shells…

Conclusion, leader lead the pack, a lousy leader will result rotten pack! So if you want to be a leader, make sure you are not a rotten or empty one.

Looking forward for a good leader!
